Windlass & Anchor Repair in Opua Boatyard

Two days ago I moved into the marina’s boatyard for protection from two days of strong winds and rain. My windlass (34 years old!!) had died and my anchor was damaged at my last stop so I didn’t have confidence in it holding through the coming weather.

All the technicians here are super busy (this is their high season) but the kind and competent folks at Seapower squeezed us in for both the electrical work and anchor welding... and the best part is that it’s my new friend from @sailingcinderella doing the repairs!

I also found the source of Windfola’s freshwater leak — we went through 7 weeks of water in our 18-day passage! — and was able to fill up our water tanks and rinse all the salt off the boat. 💦 YAYYYYYY I can’t describe how happy that makes me! The marina is totally full right now, so I’m really thankful to them for kindly finding space for us. Kiwis rock.
